Lulaworld 2025: Ladom Ensemble ‘Sofreh Tisch’ Album Release Concert

Experience the captivating album release of Ladom Ensemble’s ‘Sofreh Tisch’ as part of Lulaworld 2025. This musical celebration brings together diverse cultural influences through the artistry of pianist Pouya Hamidi from Iran and cellist Beth Silver of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage.
The album ‘Sofreh Tisch’ represents a beautiful cultural fusion – ‘Sofreh’ being the Persian term for a celebratory tablecloth, while ‘Tisch’ is the Yiddish word for table, both symbolizing gatherings of joy and storytelling. This musical journey transports listeners from the Caspian Sea to Transylvania, embracing Eastern European Jewish traditions and even 1950s Bronx influences.
Ladom Ensemble functions as a mini-orchestra of four exceptionally talented musicians creating a distinctive acoustic fusion that blends Western classical, klezmer, rock, tango, jazz, east coast traditional, and classical Persian elements into something uniquely Canadian. Each member brings virtuosic classical training combined with a fearless approach to improvisation.
Doors open at 7:00 PM for dinner and drinks, with the concert beginning at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $30 in advance plus HST. Please note that tickets are general admission and do not guarantee seating. Dinner reservations can be made at lula.ca/reservations.
This performance is part of the Lulaworld Festival running from May 28 to June 8, featuring 12 nights of global music at Lula Lounge and Do West Fest.
