Her work has appeared in the Montreal Prize Anthology, Poetry in Voice, and Brick Books’ Brickyard Series. A spoken word performer, she has appeared across North America, Ireland, and Singapore, and was twice named Toronto’s Best Poet by NOW Magazine. Her documentary Crowd the Schoolhouse won awards at the Hot Docs International Documentary Challenge. Lara is Department Head of English at Markville Secondary School and has founded major youth arts initiatives including Be Heard: Festival of Student Voices. She is also part of the Milk Teeth Collective, creating youth-focused interdisciplinary art projects.Surveyor Efik is a Canadian Environmentalist, Climate Activist, Poet and Bestselling Author. He is the Director of Global Climate Connect based in Canada – a non-profit organization that focuses on environmental education and activism of promoting climate action and sustainable development. Known for his creative approach to climate awareness, he has authored a climate poetry collection in 2024 titled The Sky Cries. He is a 2014 Fellow of Climate Change Governance at the Wageningen University, The Netherlands, and member of Toronto350.org, Toronto Climate Action Network and Canadian Authors Association. His second poetry collection – Just One Tree, is coming soon.
