This year, Festival TransAmériques (international dance and theater festival) opens its 19th edition with Shiraz by Armin Hokmi.
About the show :
How do you pay tribute to ten years of artistic work and creativity brought to a halt? Is there a way to revive the defunct Shiraz Arts Festival through a dance performance? Armin Hokmi, an Iranian choreographer based in Berlin and Oslo, answers these questions with intelligence and flair in Shiraz. It is almost like watching a sunrise or sunset: over and over again, this mysterious, captivating work reveals further nuances for the viewer to appreciate.
Six performers weave a pattern of movements, coiling and uncoiling to the pulsating beat of a capturing soundtrack. They use minimal gestures, performed with slowness and subtlety. While moving in unison, they also express their singularities, tracing fluid trajectories that bring them together in ephemeral constellations—and as if by magic, the audience is immersed in another place and time.

Festival TansAmériques 2025
Avec 20 spectacles présentés du 22 mai au 5 juin 2025, la programmation du 19e Festival TransAmériques nous invite à sortir du cynisme ambiant en oxygénant le paysage culturel et artistique, comme chaque printemps depuis 40 ans.
Cette année, le Festival TransAmériques (Festival international de danse et de théâtre) ouvre sa 19e édition avec Shiraz d’Armin Hokmi.

Comment rendre hommage à 10 ans d’effervescence artistique stoppée net ? Comment faire revivre le défunt Festival des arts de Chiraz dans un spectacle de danse ? Armin Hokmi, chorégraphe iranien établi à Berlin et à Oslo, répond à ces questions avec une intelligence et une sensibilité chorégraphiques rares. Avec Shiraz, il livre une œuvre mystérieuse et fascinante. Comme un lever du jour ou un coucher de soleil dont on ne se lasse pas d’apprécier les nuances.
Au rythme des pulsations d’une enivrante trame sonore, six interprètes tissent une toile de mouvements tout en volutes et en rebonds. Leur geste est minimal, déployé en lenteur et en subtilité. Leurs singularités s’expriment par-delà l’unisson. D’une présence totale, ils et elles tracent les trajectoires changeantes qui les relient en constellations éphémères. L’espace-temps partagé englobe le public. Et la magie opère.
